A warm welcome!

Those wandering along Hafenstraße in List on Sylt will discover, nestled between thatched roofs and dune grass, a rather special house. Here, in Germany’s northernmost gallery, JULE PLATE ˙ FINE ART presents what’s stirring in contemporary art: Pop-Art meets Neo-Realism, abstract figuration stands alongside sculptural works. Within the beautiful, light-filled rooms of our classic Sylt brick house, quite different worlds interact:

Recognisable from afar

Axel Crieger creates compositional overlays featuring iconic personalities, places and symbols – his works navigate between photographic staging, media quotation and art historical echo. Devin Miles merges screen printing, painting and metal supports into multi-layered images infused with film history, urban myths and joyful pop aesthetics.

Brendan Murphy has long established himself as a major force on the international art scene with his “Spacemen”. His metallic sculptures, adorned with handwritten bold message words, connect cosmic otherness with familiar body postures. Sabina Bockemühl presents paintings full of expression and energy. Her works move between portrait and gesture, surface and depth. They invite the viewer to discover new perspectives and to see the familiar in a new way. Powerful, direct, and distinctive – an art that both demands and offers space.
Thomas Düwer works photorealistically: his paintings – whether interiors, cities or technology – seem like random snapshots, yet closer inspection reveals precise execution in oil and acrylic. It’s precisely this care that shifts perception between first impression and final craftsmanship.

Malte von Schuckmann dedicates himself to the sea in classical oil technique: waves, spray, foam crests and the endless horizon appear in his pictures as luminous, flowing movements. The water begins to radiate from within. Albrecht Behmel overlays his partly quoted motifs with ornamental lines and vibrating colour fields – in his »Abstrahismus«, pop, camouflage and cartographic structure unite.

Yuliia Kravchenko works with neon colours, fabric and mixed media. Her portraits shift between careful representation and raw expression. New to the programme is Isyah Asher, whose large-format works combine spray technique, abstracted lines of movement and musicality into powerfully pulsating compositions.

At the spiritual heart of the gallery, alongside the many wonderful works available for purchase, stands transformation. The gallery’s new visual identity, visible in the logo, embraces this notion: two rotating initials – J and P. This uniquely defining turning point (»Wendepunkt«) represents shifts in perspective, questions of direction in art, in life, in the viewer’s gaze!
